The Season of Nightmares"Man must be prepared to accept notions of the cosmos, and of his own place in the seething vortex of time, whose merest mention is paralyzing. He must, too, be placed onguard against a specific, lurking peril which, though it will never engulf the whole race, may impose monstrous and unguessable horrors upon certain venturesome members of it."
H.P.Lovecraft.

Through the veil of Dreams.Waking up from the hospital room after the accident with a car was strange for Gwendolyn Cornell. She recognized the place after looking out of the window. "I want something to eat" She said to her self. To her surprice she found a highly ornate, marble staircase leading down to darness. Christopher Joseph had also found the same staircase, and he entered the cavern of flame unsure if he was dreaming or awake. After talking to the priests Nasht and Kaman-Thah, Christopher and Gwendolyn met. The Priests provided them some food and weapons for their journey down to the Enchanted Woods. Down the Sevenhundred Steps Christopher and Gwendolyn came to the strange Forest of perpetual twilight, the Enchanted Wood. They desided to follow the path to East. It seemed to be morning and the temperature was not so warm, but walking throught the forest made them warm. Before noon they came the a crossroads on top of a hill.
|
There were some old ruins on top the hill and Christopher and Gwendolyn explored them finding nothing interesting. From the hill forest seemed huge, they could see some mountains in North. They had followed the path for the rest of the day North and were camping when Gwen heared strange noise from the tree right above her. |
From the Game *Gwen grins and nods knowingly* "Yeah, Buster, I've heard the body heat
line before, so don't even think about getting fresh! Maybe we can rub
sticks together to make a fire? I remember reading somewhere about how to
do it..."
"Aah... Yes. It must have sounded like that. Sorry. I certainly was not
suggesting anything of the sort...er... Rubbing sticks together? Well yes
that should generate some heat. Excellent idea Gwendolyn. That way we may
keep our clothes on and sleep apart from each other."
*Christopher grins cunningly*
*Gwen imitates his cunning grin and rolls her eyes, laughing* "You can't
fool me, I know you psychologists are all about dirty thoughts!"
It is already dark when you have found a good camping place..
Gwen start to rub the sticks together... your hand begin to hurt and
nothing that even resembles fire is happening when you hear soft laughter
above you... you look up to the darkness of the foliage, but don't see
anything... then you see two large eyes opening quite close to you.. then
second and third pair of eyes open to stare at you.. the things are about
size of a cat, but their eyes are much bigger....
*Gwen glances upwards with a sharp intake of breath*
*Christopher flinches and his mouth opens a little as if to let a scream
loose. He moves slowly closer to Gwendolyn still looking at the big eyes.*
*Gwen scoots closer to him, watching the eyes as well*
"Gwen?? Try to act calm."
*Gwen is terrified, so much so that she feels a certain detachment from her
surroundings. She makes a show of false bravado* "Me, act calm!? You're
quivering like a little girl over there!" *she begins to back away from the
strange creatures slowly*
*Your hear loud growling from the foliage..*
"Grrrrr!"
*as you back away you hear*
"Buu!"
*The eyes turn to look at each other... followed by strange giggle*
"Ggrrrrr!"
*More giggling*
*The look of surprise on Christopher's face turns into a wondering smile.*
"What is this? Is someone just playing games with us? Show yourselves !!"
*Christopher still keeps moving a bit closer to Gwendolyn. He is being careful not to touch her though.*
"Fear not, human.. and put your weapons away.."
*says a strange piping voice*
*Christopher takes his hand of the sword still staring the creatures with wonder*
*The three creatures climb down from the tree.. They look like rats
size of a cat with small tentacles on their snouts and large yellow eyes staring at you*
"First time here?"
*Says one of them*
"It certainly is. What are you creatures. I have never seen or even heard of anything like you before in my life. You... you can speak. What a strange place this is..."
"This is not a safe place for you... the manwolves are hunting..."
"Manwolves?? Do you mean Werewolves? But they are just a myth, not real."
*Christopher says in a confident voice.*
The three creatures turn out to be a scouting party of Zoog who invite Gwen and Christopher to spend the night in the safety of their village.
They make their way through the forest in the darkness and fall to sleep on a hay stack in the village
|
From the game In the morning the Zoogs come to greet you... it is hart to tell difference between them, but you learn to know Tiaf.. you have better time to look at the village... there are housing also in the trees.. it is interesting to look at the Zoog in their daily activities...
*Gwen turns to Christopher* "God, do you think a girl could get a cigarette around here?" *she casts her eyes about, but doesn't see any Zoogs smoking. She is suffering fron nicotine withdrawal and becoming quite irritable. Her limbs are covered with scratches from the journey through the forest, and she feels the need to bathe.* "Tiaf, where can I take a bath?"
Christopher:
"Yes a bath sound exellent. You go first I will wait here for my turn."
Tiaf:
"Oh yes.. of course.. just go through the village... you will find a small stream just outside of the village... follow the stream up and you will find a waterfall.. I think you will like the place.."
*Tiafs sharp teeth can be seen when he Smiles.*
*Gwen smiles nervously at the sight of his sharp teeth*
"Is it safe for me to go alone?"
Tiaf:
"We have guards all over the village... you are safe..."
Christopher:
"Tiaf, would it be possible for us to have some breakfast? We have not eaten since yesterday morning."
*Christopher sits down under the tree's shadowing branches and wonders if he should have offered to wash Gwend's back. He closes his eyes smiling, relaxes for a while and then with great interest starts to watch the little ratlike people in their daily chores.*
*Gwendolyn wanders off in the specified direction uncertainly. She undresses and washes herself in the stream. Christopher had better not be spying on her. But, on the other hand, he better have thought about it! She attempts to rinse out her dirty dress. When she returns to the village, her appearance brings to mind the term "drowned rat". Her hair is dripping down her back, and her wet dress is clinging to her skin embarrassingly. And she still wants a cigarette.*
*Christopher's eyes turn from the villagers to Gwendolyn and he fails to suppress a smile coming to his lips.*
"The bath seems to have been refreshing. I think will take my turn now if you don't mind."
*Gwen scowls and tugs the fabric of her dress away from her body, in an attempt to make it less revealing. It does no good whatsoever.*
*Christopher walks to the stream to have a bath. He sits in the water and rests his back against a tree trunk, closes his eyes and relaxes himself again. Slowly he falls asleep.*
*Gwen sits in a pile of hay and sulks. After quite some time has passed, she starts to wonder what has become of Christopher. More time passes, and she begins to panic. Gory scenarios of his gruesome demise begin to enter her mind unbidden. She'd be in big trouble if he'd up and got himself killed, leaving her in this strange world alone. Maybe she should go check. She walks at a brisk pace to the stream, and when she is very near, she hides behind a tree. At this point she realizes that something had really better be wrong, or Christopher would think she was a voyeur! She slowly peeks around the tree, bracing herself for anything.*
*Christopher suddenly awakens without knowing why. Wondering why he fell asleep he stands up and dries himself with his pyjama shirt. Suddenly thinking someone might see him, he quickly puts on his pyjama pants. Then remembering where he is, Christopher lets out a little laughter, shakes his head, puts on his robe and starts walking back to the village.*
*Gwen gasps. As soon as she realizes what she's looking at, she snaps her head back behind the tree. Obviously, Christopher is quite alright. As he draws nearer to the tree she's hiding behind, Gwen flattens herself against it and holds her breath. It wouldn't do for Christopher to catch here here! Not at all! He'd probably offer psychological counsel for her voyeurism!*
*Christopher walks back under the tree and wonders a bit where Gwendolyn has gone. He sits in the shadow of the tree thinking what to do next.*
*Gwen strains her ears, but hears no further sound of movement. Finally she dares to breathe again. Probably the best course of action would be for her to circle around the village and re-enter it from a different direction. She'd tell Christopher that she had gone for a walk, enjoying the strange flora and fauna. Yes. She steps from behind the tree and yelps when she sees Christopher sitting at the base of it. Time seems to slow to a crawl, and she blushes from neckline to hairline. She is dumbstruck, and no sound, no explanation will emerge from her mouth.*
"Aah.. there you are. I was already wondering where you went. And suddenly, there you are..."
*Christopher says and strokes his chin thoughtfully.*
*Gwen blushes even more fiercely*
"Ummmm...errrrr..."
"How would you like to continue our journey through this wondrous forest? We could ask the little people for some food and water. They could propably offer us some advice of where to go next and what to avoid on the way."
*She is grateful for the change in subject*
"Yes, that sounds like an excellent idea."
"You are correct there Gwendolyn. May I call you Gwendolyn. You may call me Christopher or Chris like most of you Americans do."
*Gwendolyn smiles*
"I prefer Christopher. Yes, you may call me Gwendolyn, or even Gwen if you care to save yourself a few syllables!"
After debating about directions Christopher and Gwen deside to head North to the mysterious Gates. They say farewell to Tiaf and the other Zoogs.
*Christopher smiles at Gwendolyn and offers his arm again.*
"Shall we ?"
*Gwen feels a little uncomfortable, but steps forward and hooks her arm through his. If he was willing to pretend that nothing unwholesome had happened, she would be happy to do the same!*
*Christopher waves at Tiaf*
"Thank you for everything Tiaf and farewell."
*Gwen turns and smiles at Tiaf*
"Yes, and thank you for the mushrooms. I love mushrooms!"
After walking for hours along the old path they begin to see some strange light coming from the forest further along the path...
Numerous light sources can be seen in the distance, and as they slowly approach one they can see it more closely. It seems like a doorway of stone, a bright lightshines through it.
*Gwen looks up at Christopher.*
"Pretty eerie, huh? What do you think we should do? Throw a mushroom at it?"
*Christopher shrugs and steps closer trying to understand what he sees.*
"I have no idea. Could be as good a thing to do as anything else. I do not even understand what it is."
*Gwen furrows her brow, leans forward and squints at the light, careful to keep her distance.*
"How queer..."
*Christopher shrugs again.*
"Hello!"
*he says to the light and shakes his head in disbelief*
"My name is Christopher and this young lady is my friend Gwendolyn."
*Christopher mutters to himself*
"I must be out of my mind here"
*Gwen raises an eyebrow meaningfully*
"I always knew you were."
*She glances back toward the light.* "
It looks like a doorway. If we threw a mushroom at it, we could probably tell if it is. I'm not going to eat these mushrooms, are you?"
Chistopher:
"A doorway? Well yes at least that sounds more sensible. Well this is supposed to be some kind of dream world is it not? I am just not quite used to the idea yet. Tiaf did mention the Gates, these could be the very things he was talking about."
"Eat the mushrooms? Well of course. They are very delicious and healthy food. I would love to eat some later. But go ahead throw one at the thing."
*Gwen wrinkles her nose*
"Ugh, mushrooms? Delicious? You have lost your mind!"
*She playfully tosses a mushroom at him, then takes a few paces backwards and lets another fly at the strange light.*
The light brightens for a short while and you hear a humming sound.. the mushroom disappears in to the light...
They notice there are more of these things further in the forest.. some of them are broken in parts and some are just not shining, and can be seen right through.. most of them are just aches made of stone, but some are made of metal or even wood... most of them have stairs leadind to them, but the stairs have broken or they are overgrown with strange plants...
*Gwen nods with certainty*
"Well, it does seem to be a portal of some kind. Go on, Christopher, stick your head through and see what's on the other side."
*She smiles evilly.*
*Christopher strokes his chin again and smiles impishly at Gwendolyn. He then walks to the portal, touches it first with his hand.*
"Take my hand, so we'll stay together what ever happens."
*Christopher extends his hand back for Gwen to crasp and then sticks his head in the humming field of light.*
*Gwen grabs his hand, but digs her heels into the ground, trying to pull him back*
*Christopher stops his intention and relaxes himself allowing Gwendolyn pull him back. Christopher bumps into Gwendolyn and falls down with her, on top of her*
"Whoah! Are you all right Gwen? If you wanted to stop me , saying so would have been sufficient."
"Owwwwww...I think you're laying on my pancreas!"
*Christopher looks deep into Gwendolyn's eyes, then noticing what he's doing, blinks a couple times and pushes himself to the side and up. He then offers his hand to Gwendolyn.*
"What about the portal? Maybe we should take a peek on the other side. Or would you like to somewhere else instead?"
*Gwendolyn is blushing. Those mad moments when Christopher looked into her eyes were startlingly intimate, as if he had seen her in her chemise! She was even more embarrassed because she found it thrilling*
"Ummmm....I guess we could just take a little peek into the portal."
*Christopher looks around and picks up a stick from the ground. Holding on to one end, he pokes the other end of the stick in the portal.*
A soft humming sound can be heard as the stick goes in.. Then he pulls it out... nothing happens.. the stick is as it was before...
*Gwen laughs*
"Okay, now try it with your head! Ha ha ha! It's probably safe for us to walk though it, unless it has a differenteffect on human flesh. We should probably stick less important body parts in first."
*Christopher laughs too relieved to hold the stick still in his hand. He again offers his hand to Gwendolyn.*
"Perhaps it would be better, if I go first. If something happens to me you will still be able to return to the Cavern of Flames."
*Christopher takes a long look at Gwendolyn, smiles and sticks his head in the portal.*
*Gwen stands stock still, her eyes glistening with the strange glow from the portal and repressed emotion. She winces as his head goes in.*
*Christopher pulls his head back from the portal.*
"It was strange... I saw another place, a place with plains and a ... road. There was a city there... in ruins. Strange indeed."
*Gwen is weak in the knees with relief, but she hides it well.*
"Yes, very strange! Should we go in?"
"Yes I think we should. This path does not seem to go anywhere else."
*Christopher takes Gwendolyn's hand and together they step through the portal*
They hear a soft humming sound and feel cold for a short time.. then they are standing on old stone steps leading down from the portal... They can see the enchanted wood for a while, but then the view starts to dim and finally they can see just the same shining as in the woods. as they look around they see a ruined town. the portal seems to be inside a large building, maybe a temple or something... the whole town seems old and ruined... as they walk around they find a road running through the town. the road seems to be the only thing used in the recent times...
*Gwen looks around with a stupid expression*
"Gee, I wonder who used to live here? Want to look around the town some or just follow the road, Christopher?"
"I would definitely like to look at around the town. This is very interesting. We might even find something useful in here. Then again we might not."
*Christopher walks outside and takes a good look around*
*Gwen dogs his footsteps, looking too*
As they examine the road running through the town, they find a recent camping place in the ruins by the road.. it seems the people camping here were killed by some beast.. there are broken bones and pieces of cloth and armor lying around everywhere...
*Gwen backs away gagging, then turns and runs a few paces in the other direction, bent over with nausea. She mutters under her breath*
"oh my god, oh my god"*
*With a grim expression on his face, Christopher walks to the camping site. Remembering his compalsory courses of pathology from university, Christopher swallows the stomach acid rising to his mouth. The then examines the remains trying to comprehend what has happened to the victims. He also checks the armor.*
"Do not try to keep it inside Gwendolyn. It is better to vomit and let the stomach muscles relax. It goes by more quickly that way."
*Christopher says to Gwendolyn*
*A splattering sound on the road behind him lets him know that Gwen has taken his advice. After some gagging and spitting, Gwen comes to stand beside Christopher. She wears a dazed expression.*
"Good God, that's disgusting. I wonder if it was the manwolves that did them in. Whatever it was, I hope it's gone."
*For the first time in their journey, Gwen seems very disspirted and tired.*
seaching through the camp they find:
-broadsword
-small knife
-lockpick
-tinderbox
-helmet
-small shield
-35 silver and 7 gold coins in a leather bag
-21 silver and 5 gold coins in a leather bag
-two maps
-three blankets
-three bags:
some clothes are found inside.
-2 torches
"I belive the previous owners do not need these items anymore. They might be of use to us. These coins are probably local currency. Perhaps you should take one bag and I will take the other."
*Christopher picks up both leather bags and passes the one with more money to Gwen.*
"Blankets we certainly will need, as well as torches and more clothes. I think we should take all we can carry."
*Christopher opens the bags with clothes inside and checks them out.*
*Gwen carefully inspects her bag for blood before taking it from Christopher's hand. Then she picks up the broadsword and tries to swing it around recklessly. But she stumbles and almost falls down from the momentum, due to the sword's hefty weight*
"I think you'd better take this, I'm not strong enough to use it! I'll take the little knife."
*She tries the helmet on, turning her head from side to side for Christopher's approval. *
"What do you think?"
*She's trying hard to ignore the gory tableau and be cheerful. After Christopher rummages through the clothing, she lunges for it.*
"Oooh, what's here for me? A Parisian evening gown, I hope!"
*Christopher chooses travelling clothes for himself trousers, shirt, tunic, cloak and boots.*
"Maybe you should change in the temple Gwen while I put these on out here."
*After changing his clothes, Christopher then ties the broadsword next to his old sword and grabs the rest of the travelling gear and clothes.*
"That's better. Ok I'm done Gwendolyn, you can come out now."
After examining rest of the town and finding nothing they head South along the road. Later when the night starts to fall the come to a forest. While walking there they are suddently stopped.
"Stop!"
*Shouts a strange low male voice*
*Christopher almost jumps up in surprise and stops immediatly.*
from behind and in front of them a group of strange looking men walk to the road.. they look like humans but are ugly with sharp teeth.. and armours, swords, and axes..
*Suddenly Christopher is very scared. He is trying hard not to show it though. Unwisely his hand slides down to the pommel of his sword.*
"well well what do we have here?"
*Says one of the ugly fellows*
"Humans..... heh heh hee..."
"We want no quarrel with you good sirs. We only wish to pass through."
*Christopher says in his doctorlike deep and calm voice.*
*The Man/Creature grinns evilly*
"Eh! Sirs heh heh ... we are Sirs... did you hear that lads?"
*The man/creature turns to the darkness of the bushes, where you see a figure in black robe*
"Master what to do with these?"
*The figure in the black robe answers*
"Kill the man and do what you like with the woman!"
*the voise of the figure sounds strange like a goat or a sheep.. You can see the hooved feet under the robe.. the creature in front of you grinns at gwen.*
*The men start to close at you*...
"Stay behind me Gwen"
*Says Christopher and draws his sword very unskillfully*
Before you can act you hear noise from the direction you were coming from.. the men turn to look at that direction.. a large group of strange humanoinds in closing you with great speed.. some of the humanoids are riding on things that resemble giantic insects.. The group surrounding you seem to panic, and turn to run. the man in the black robe shouts:
"Fight you cowards!"
*Then he looks around him and turns to run also..*
*Astonished, Christopher almost drops his swords and swallows hard*
"From one nightmare into another..."
"Let's run Gwendolyn!!"
*Christopher grabs Gwens hand with his own and starts running to the opposite direction of the first group. His legs shake and almost buckle under.*
*Gwen is screaming. In fact, she hasn't stopped screaming for the past five minutes. She turns to run.*
*Gwen struggles to keep up with him, her knees uselessly noodle-like* So they run as fast as they can, finally stopping to catch some breath.
Cristopher:
"Perhaps we should try to put as much distance between us and those evil creatures as possible. Let's try to follow the road a bit further."
*Gwen slumps against a tree, struggling to catch her breath.*
*Christopher look around and says quietly:*
"I certainly hope that this is not the area where the werewolves live."
"Me too."
*Her ragged breathing makes it hard for her to speak*
"I wish...we knew...how to use our weapons....better."
*Christopher tries to find the road again hopefully some miles ahead of the ambushing place.*
From the looks of the forest they could tell this wasn't the Enchanted wood, and hopefully the manwolves weren't closeby. After a short while they found the road but it was getting dark already. As they walked in the twilight they saw a fire in the distance up the road... it seemed like a large camping place.. a strange singing could be heard from the direction of the camp... and the smell of food could be felt... As Gwen's stomach growled they sneaked closer to see the camp more clearly. The camp was inhabited by the creatures who came riding with te giant insects.
*Gwen looks at Christopher, not saying anything, but he can see sheer terror in her eyes*
*someone speaking with a calm voise right behind Gwen and Christopher*
"Identify yourselves please.. so I know if you are an enermy or a foe!"
*nothing can be seen in the darkness*
"Please humans I wish not to hurt you..."
*The deep voice insists*
"Before you do anything foolish, I must tell you I can see perfectly in this darkness"
*Gwen gulps* "I-I'm Gwen. Don't eat us, we don't taste very good."
*the figure starts to walk towards them*
*Christopher takes a small step back.*
"come join us in our camp.. you will be safe with us.. we are just merchants... troll merchants that is... "
*the troll stops in front of you, he is huge with a large mace in his hand*
"come come, don't be scared. I tell you can't find a safer place here in the wilderness that with a heavily armed troll caravan"
*he walks by you towards the camp laughing by him self*
*Christopher turns to Gwen with an astonished look on his face.*
"Trolls? Be safe? I do not know about you Gwendolyn but my mother used to scare with trolls when I was small. They were supposed to be big hairy creatures who eat innocent children..."
*Gwen has relaxed slightly.* "Well, well, we aren't innocent children, are we?" *She leers exaggeratedly.*
Christopher:
"On the other hand I think we really do not have a choice. We have no food left and we do not know what creature might be lurking in the darkness."
*Gwen's hand disappears inside her pocket, and she pulls something out.*
"Wellll, we have one mushroom left, want it?"
*She hopes that Christopher doesn't realize that the food is gone because she's been eating it on the sly.*
"Thank you, but no thank you. You go ahead."
*Christopher takes an unsure step after the troll and again offers his hand to Gwendolyn.*
*She gives him a reassuring look and takes his hand.*
*Christopher and Gwendolyn start walking after the troll.*
The troll camp is in a small clearing.. four huge bugs rest peacefully under the trees... the trolls have put up three large tents and now some of them are sitting by a fire preparing something to eat... they don't seem to mind Christopher and Gwendolyn much...there are about 20 trolls in the camp.... the troll walking in front of Christopher and Gwendolyn stops and turns to them.
"I will arrange a place to sleep for you... and by the way my name is Zargo Argax of the Clan Gyx"
*Zargo the troll returns with some food made of some meat and mushrooms. he gives you both a bowl and a spoon.*
"please come sit by the fire"
*Zargo walks to three trolls preparing food by the fire.*
"We will let these poor humans sleep by the fire"
*The other trolls nod.*
"You see humans, it will be warm enough for you to sleep here..."
*Christopher accepts the bowl eagerly and smiles heartily.*
"Thank you very much. At the moment a fire and some food is all I need"
"If I may ask, and I do not wish to sound ungrateful, why are you being so nice and welcoming towards total strangers?"
Gwen:
"Forgive my ignorant behaviour, but we have not seen trolls before and have only heard frightening stories about your race. Now I know they are not correct. We are sincerely greatful for your help."
Zargo:
*to Gwen*
"Hmm.. you are welcome..."
*the troll turns to Christopher*
"Well you seemed to be in the need of help... and the times are bad.. all of us who fight the chaos must help each other or be destroyed"
Gwen:
"Fight the Chaos? What do you mean by the Chaos, Zargo? We are not from around here and these things you say seem strange to us. We would like to hear more, if you do not mind telling us."
Zargo:
"The chaos that is about to take over the world..."
*The troll sits down*
"It was before the great darkness when the priests of Graag tried to open a portal between this world and the world of their god. If they would have succeeded the world would be a differend place. something spoiled their ritual, but bad things happened anyway. Terrible earth quakes stroke and destroyed many of the greatest cities. After the quakes there were still many accidents, huge waves hit almost all the costal areas and many volcanoes went off, we the races of the underworld were lucky in many ways if we just survived the quakes. after few days the sky went dark and stayed that way for about four years. During this Great Darkness the creatures of chaos attacked... those who were not killed by the demons froze on starved, only few ares inhabited by humans survived.. many refugees came to our cities underground. you can still see the wounds in nature... the earth is healing now but still the sky is grey most of the time... I think this is enough for now..."
*the trolls seem to be preparing to sleep. Zargo turns to you.*
"normally we would travel during the night, but these are human areas and we wish to trade with them... anyway we will be on our way early in the morning before the sun rises.. you are welcome to join us."
"Yes I think we would enjoy your company. Those bandits we met earlier really scared us and we would not like to run into them or their like again."
Zargo:
"Yes you are welcome... we will be arriving to more civilized areas tomorrow and you will be more safe.. though there seem to be bandits everywhere nowadays... we are heading to the mighty seaport, and should be there in few weeks. if you never been there it will be quite sight for you... "
Gwen:
"Aah a human city you say? During our stay in these strange lands, we have not met another human being so far, unless those highwaymen were humans. We have only met those helpful little people called Zoogs. We do have great seaport cities in our land as well, but we are certainly interested to see another one."
*the troll grunts*
"Nothing compared to our great cities in the dark of cource."
*Gwen*
"Cities in the dark? Do you live underground then?"
"Yes"
*Gwendolyn has consumed her food greedily throughout the conversation, and now leans against Christoper drowsily, her head on his shoulder.*
*Thinking that Gwendolyn cannot see, Christopher smiles happily. He then carefully braces himself better against the tree and closes he's eyes. After a few minutes Christopher is sound asleep.*
*The trolls go to sleep...*
*next morning you wake when one of the trolls come to wake you up. the caravan continues on it's way with you. After three days of journey you come to the first human settlement, it is a small village in a hilly farming area. There are many small farms scattered around. The village's (called Drybrook) center has three buildings: Inn, Shop, and Townhall (home to the leader of this community). The trolls stop just outside the village, and in the morning of the fourth day the villagers come to trade.*
*During the journey towards the human settled areas Christopher can feel relaxed again. He spends most of the time chatting with Gwendolyn about where they're from, where they live, what they do for work, etc. He does have some questions for the trolls anyway and feeling secure enough he dares to tell Zargo about how he got in this world.*
During the journey Zargo and the other trolls tell many things about the Dreamlands and ask many about the waking world.
The Caravan continues on it's way and finally you arrive to the great city of Seaport. It is really a large and beautiful City, It's tall towers and all the Churches ,temples, and palaces of strange architecture. The Trolls stop outside of the city, you can see the road leading South to the City. The Trolls suggest you to go to the City to look for an inn to stay.. they tell you that the famous Kukkiva Tölli Inn can be found in the harbour area... What they told you, this Inn is the most likely place to find other wakingworlders to talk to.
