Locale | Somewhere on the Sea of Gearnat |
Date | 2nd day of Goodmonth, 585 CY (Common Year) |
Time | afternoon |
Deep in the bowels of the ship, Wed collapsed back into unconsciousness. Rheaphlyndar tried to guess which way the giant crocodile would turn, but unfortunately he guessed wrong.
Rheaphlyndar | (splash!) Crap! |
At almost the same time, the crocodile hit the ship at pretty close to it's full speed. This attack rocked the boat and tossed a few sailors to the deck. Gimar and Yodavan chose that moment to attack.
Gimar | Die, reptile scum! |
Yodavan | Full of holes you will be, hmmm. |
The magical missile lept from Yodavan's outstretched hand and into the crocodiles snout, landing between two magical crossbow bolts fired by Gimar. With that kind of damage, it dove down and under the ships keel.
Sailors | Full watch on the port side! |
Yodavan rushed over and Gimar made ready with a nearby rope. Once the end was tied off, the dwarven warrior threw it down towards Rheaphlyndar's outstretched hands. The throw was just a little long, and as the ship rocked from another crocodile attack, the off-balance dwarf fell towards the water.
Gimar | Great, just great. (splash!) |
The thief swam towards the spot where the dwarf had gone under, finding a normal log with a bloody patch. Acrobatically he dove downwards, snaring the warrior before he sunk too far down.
After finally getting Gimar on board the ship, Nicola slapped some healing on him. Coming around, the noble dwarf looked around woozily.
Gimar | The ship - out of danger? |
Little John | We caught new wind in our sails moments after you were pulled aboard. The crocodile swam away, but I do not know why. |
Dollin | I'm afraid I'm to blame for that one. I managed to convince him that the only thing he would find here was his own death. |
Rheaphlyndar | Your style is unorthodox. |
Dollin | (smiling) But effective. |
Gimar | (rubbing his head) His own death, eh? That sounds about right. Still, we gained some experience in fighting giant swimming reptiles. |
Rheaphlyndar | And if he zigs instead of zagging next time, I should be able to deliver a solid back stab. |
Dollin | And you call my style unorthodox? |
Rheaphlyndar | (just grins) |
Nicola | Are you feeling alright, Gimar? Seeing double or anything? |
Gimar | Yeah, I feel okay now. Still, there's a few Biscuits that I don't see. Where's Wed? |
Yodavan | (entering the cabin) Still below, passed out with fever. I just checked on him. |
Gimar | And there you are, so that leaves only Jaron. |
The Biscuits quickly canvased the ship, but the heroic paladin was nowhere to be found. Gimar had to be restrained to keep from jumping in the water and searching for him with the only means he knew - walking along the sea's bottom. Rheaph and Yodavan set up a watch around the stern of the ship, just in case. The Paladin did not reappear that night.

Locale | The Shore of Onnwal |
Date | 3rd day of Goodmonth, 585 CY (Common Year) |
Time | late morning |
The rest of the day's travel and part of the next brought the Biscuits within sight of land to the west. The morning's fog and mist refused to burn off, but Captain Gavin assured the party of their location.
Captain Gavin | (indicating his map) My charts plus the depth soundings put us here. If we sail to the southeast we should hit Northanchor. I will get you as close as I can then put you on shore here, per Master Gimar's instructions. We will also keep a close watch for your paladin on our return trip. Finally, I wish you good luck in your journey. |
Gimar | And the same good luck for your journey, friend. When we get back here, we may wish to charter your vessel upstream. |
Captain Gavin | (giving a brief nod) Only time will tell. |
Soon the party and their provisions were standing on the beach, and Nicola was working to get them organized. Wed helped out, feeling much stronger and looking far less pale. By the time the midday meal was served, the skies were clearing and Gimar was comparing various landmarks to the scribbled maps he had purchased.
Dollin stood by a calm tidal pool, readying himself to cast a scrying spell. He hoped he could find some information about Jaron's whereabouts. He was just beginning the spell when he was struck from behind by a giant claw.
Little John | (sounding the alert) To arms! Giant crabs! |
