Items and junk:
A mulatto born to a half-white trash mother in Jacksonville, FL, Willie came into this world with no chance. When Willie was three, his mother, Junta, met John Bo. John Bo got her alcohol and drugs in return for companionship. When Willie was five, John Bo convinced Junta to move from the Blodgett homes to the Paradise Motel off US 1, way out Northside, in the middle of nothing. Junta & Willie got their own ramshackle room. Junta sank further into her isolation and depression, and largely ignored Willie. Willie eventually started exploring, and escaped more and more into the woods. Junta never got around to enrolling Willie in school, and because of the time of the move to the motel and its remote location, Willie "fell through the cracks."
As Willie's explorations spread, he found a neighborhood and a park a few miles away from the motel. In this park, he met Rita, a bag lady. The two struck an immediate friendship, and so began Willie's ersatz education, for Rita was wise in the ways of the world, and talked endlessly of what she knew.
To increase his freedom and avoid people who wished to cart him off to school or the Dept. of Children and Families, Willie learned how to lie, and lie well. He also learned how to divert conversation, and inevitably got anyone curious about him to instead talk about themselves and forget Willie's situation. Basically, he has the locals entranced (not enchanted) by his friendliness and joviality. Another thing that has helped is that there are no other children in the motel.
When Willie was eight, he discovered his Secret Place: an Indian Burial Mound! (Timucuan, though Willie doesn't know this.) He first found an arrowhead (his Treasure), and followed the way it pointed. Under brush, over creek, down a hole, there it was! His life changed soon after...
Holding 1: This is the Indian burial mound. The entrance is a hole just big enough for Willie, and inside, there is just enough room for Willie and his Companion, Jayley. It's possible this was once the home of some animals. The Holding is a Glade - there is a crystal buried just underneath the small cave area.
Companion 2: Jayley, a Dragonfly Fairy chimera. He's genderless, 9" tall, 12" wingspan. He wears no clothes and has no hair. Tiny but long features including a 1" long aerodynamic nose. Skin tone of an oak; black eyes. Extremely quick and dextrous; can fly faster than a human; can run for short distances (up to 100 yards), can change direction (even in flight) instantly. Can only pick up max. of 5 lbs., but can fly (very slowly) with even this weight. Has avg. human intelligence and can talk in English.
Jayley loves to play, has a keen sense of adventure, loyalty and justice. He is a steadfast friend of Willie's, and they have together taken the Oath of Clasped Hands. Jayley hates enclosed places (especially buildings) and will not enter them. The sole exception to this is the Indian Burial Mound (and it took almost a year of gentle coaxing by Willie for Jayley even to do that).
Jayley's skills: Athletics (Flying), Throwing (Dropping), Stealth (SE US Forest/Swamp), Survival (SE US Forest/Swamp), Dodge, Alertness, Singing, Hunting (Insects)
Retinue 1: Rita and John Bo. Rita is a True Friend of Willie's, and he'd do just about anything for her.
John Bo: Age 46; Caucasian; 5'10" tall; 215 lbs.; white, balding black hair; brown eyes; hairy. John Bo inherited the Paradise Motel from an ex-wife with no family. He is stupid with little ambition except for small time schemes. He has his hand in minor drug activities. He dropped out of school at 16, never passing 8th grade. John Bo likes Junta because she is so easy to control, but he is by no means anywhere near faithful. While she is high, she'll also do things for his friends quite easily - one rule of his is that she only gets high in his place, not her apartment, so she spends a good deal of time in his place. John Bo used to worry a little about Willie, but he's such a good, quiet boy, and so easily frightened, that John Bo has stopped being concerned. Besides, Willie does clean up the place from time to time. John Bo arranged for Willie to find a bit of pot so he could try it - John Bo doesn't know Willie's reaction, but has wondered why Willie hasn't asked him about drugs yet.
During the past year, John Bo has had dreams and drugged visions where Willie is more than just a child - he's been like a nature spirit, watching and doing good for John Bo as long as he does well for Junta & Willie. John Bo doesn't yet have a conscious knowledge of this - it's a subconscious feeling (due to the Mists) and conditioning (due to Willie's judicious use of Fuddle and Enchantment). This causes John Bo to be very well-disposed to Willie & protect him without questioning or interfering in Willie's ways.
Treasure 2: Arrowhead - still appears as such to Fae eyes. With this, Willie can use Chicanery - Veiled Eyes. Only at night, can move (with Stealth) but no other action, must concentrate. Difficulty for others to pierce this Veiled Eyes use goes up by 2 on nights with full moon.
Additional detail on Junta Mary Jones. Age 25; 5'1" tall; 110 lbs.; dark skin; black eyes; black curly hair; Banality of 6. Willie doesn't really understand his mother. She's got a loving heart, but lives in a world of her own. She'll respond to people (including Willie), but won't initiate conversation or action. She watches TV all day & night. The only action she'll take is to get alcohol and occasionally drugs (luckily she stops short of coke/crack, but she has done heroin & LSD). Apparently, the drugs keep her Banality from rising any further. [Side note: Willie tried pot once, and it made him so sick he won't do it again.] John Bo makes certain there's enough food in the house (barely) and feeds Junta's habits in exchange for other favors. Willie peeped a couple of times, but Junta seemed to be in so much pain/pleasure, and John Bo seemed so wild & dangerous, that Willie slipped quickly away. Junta doesn't keep tabs on Willie, seldom remembering what day it is or when she last saw him, although Willie makes a show of being home most every evening & morning, and keeps out of sight of the other residents of the motel.
Seelie Legacy: The Jester. Willie loves everyone to have a good time when he's with them. He goes out of his way for those that are hurt, and tries to bring a smile to every crying face. He doesn't like to kill, not even those who hurt him. He tries to escape, stun, and/or drive them off instead. He specializes in confusing enemies and then either avoids them (if possible) or converts them (through humor) into friends.
Unseelie Legacy: The Fool. Seriousness is Banal to Willie - even Nockers need to laugh! If Willie cannot even bring a smile to the face of those in a serious situation, he is likely to leave or play his own private, fun game.
Willie is a kleptomaniac, sort of. He loves exchanging things. When meeting people, he loves asking for stuff and giving something in return. Sometimes he'll just give someone a gift, but his joy is greatly magnified if they give him something in return. If he enters a place with different items (like a store), he is likely to do the same thing. Note that buying something counts as an exchange to him. Sometimes he'll let someone know what he's doing, sometimes he won't.
The Lies Frailty and The Bard's Tongue: when directly talking to someone, Willie will tend to amuse them by saying both "yes" and "no" in the same sentence, e.g., "Yes I can't." (I actually borrowed this idea from a friend in Jacksonville who would occasionally say things just like that.) If needing to make a cover story, Willie will talk like a normal child. The Bard's Tongue works a little differently with Willie. For him, a lie he said would actually come true ex post facto! It happens less often than the normal Bard's Tongue effect, but there is no chance to resist.
Beliefs towards Animals and Children (as described in the Player's Guide, pg 72). Willie believes as the Guide states. In fact, a persistent abuser or a murderer of animals or children are the only people Willie will ever willingly hurt, and even then just to prevent further abuse or murder.
