Notes for the Code Warriors

In coming up with the images/HTML code for Rath Changeling, I've considered many factors, noted below:

  1. Five-image format: I've used this rather than an image map because not all browsers support image maps, and some equipment for the blind cannot interpret them. I understand that sites should be able to explore all options, but especially since this is the only portal for Changeling sites, it's to be as accessible as possible (while still maintaining some style). Yes, I am aware that due to using separate images together, on some pages/browers, the images may not be exactly together. Oh, well - this is HTML, not my own program. =)

  2. Size of images: believe it or not, the original fragment (when I became Ringmaster of The Faerie Ring) was a table with a total size of around 200px high by 600px wide! You can still see the old table on a few older Faerie Ring sites. I whittled that down a bit back then, and have now reduced the size down to 70px high by 359px wide (with a 31x134 size available for framed sidebars). This is a good banner size, visible without taking up too much vertical space, and I ask that you respect this and not reduce it any further.

  3. Use of target="_top" attribute in the <A> tags: this is especially for framed sites. The "_top" specifies that the target site shows up in the top-level frame of the browser. To preserve the "rath" (as opposed to a collection of windows), I ask that you do not replace "_top" with "_blank". If you do not have a framed site and want to shave a few bytes off your code, you may by all means remove the target="_top" attribute from the <A> tags.
