Upkeep Cost Reduction Factors
There are innovations that can lead to Upkeep cost reduction. Tech and House Attribute levels do not directly impact Upkeep.
Two additional factors can reduce house upkeep.
One is the presence of a House Steward. Typically a male noble (it must be a noble), the Steward is charged with the upkeep and overall control every day house affairs. Having a Steward will reduce the RP costs by 10% and in additional will assist with insurgency issues. The Steward is also charged with 'first contact' duties with envoys (typically leading them into the Audience Chamber). However, the Steward is always on active duty and can not be called on for other actions.
The second factor is the presence of slave masters. Slave masters reduce the amount slaves required for overall house maintenance (not rooms) by 10%
